What Children Are Trying to Tell You

Kids come to therapy when they are struggling to communicate their needs in a constructive way. Some kids will use anger to express themselves, some will take backward steps in their maturing, and others may have complaints about physical illness. In therapy, we help children find ways to express their experience through play and through creative expression. Children learn to identify feelings by name and practice coping strategies with their therapist. They learn to focus, cooperate, and share through play and interaction. The one-on-one attention and secure environment gives them a chance to develop the capacities and self awareness that they need. And they also begin a lifelong habit of making mental health an important part of daily wellness.
