Face to face vs. telehealth: which is right for you?

With the expansion of technology, professionals find new ways to provide services to consumers.  Talk therapy has been slow to open up to this electronic world but telehealth is a growing into an attractive mode of delivering therapy. Benefits of therapy by telehealth include accessibility, cost effectiveness, and convenience.  However, there are some drawbacks to consider with telehealth sessions.  Clients and therapists should beware if the technology inhibits rapport, encourages social avoidance, or hinders the therapeutic milieu.  If you feel that telehealth is a fit for you, keep in mind that therapists must be licensed in the state where the client is physically present at the time of the session.
